Course Format:
Playright is honoured to be appointed as the sole provider of Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Certification in Hong Kong.
Each participant will receive Course Materials (including 2010 CPSC Handbook plus the 4-ASTM Standards, Playground is NO Accident (6th Edition) (USB drives with PDF of book) on first day of the course.
The 2-day program includes lectures, facilitated discussions, applied exercises and case studies. 2 days of self-study are provided before the examination.

- Duration of Certification Examination is 2 hours. English as a Second Language (ESL) candidates must declare their status to be granted a 60 minute extension of the examination time, and permission to use a strict English to another language translation dictionary (book form only, no electronic dictionaries allowed).

Certification:
On successfully passing the examination, you will be certified through the National Recreation and Park Association as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) for a three year period. Certificates will be awarded.

About CPSI Certification Program
The Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) course is a Professional Certification Program for playground safety inspectors. Mr Kenneth S. Kutska
CPSI
Executive Director, International Playground Safety Institute (IPSI), LLC.
Kenneth S. Kutska is currently the Executive Director of the International Playground Safety Institute, LLC. After 35 years in the municipal park and recreation management Ken retired from the Wheaton Park District, Illinois. His primary work experience was in the area of public park management with emphasis on park design, facility design, maintenance and operations. He has designed more than 100 parks and playgrounds; provides planning assistance to other groups and organizations for park and playground design; and has developed training programs and materials for staff responsible for playground design, construction, maintenance, repair and inspection. He is co-founder of the NRPA CPSI Program and remains consultant and trainer to the NRPA on all things related to Playground Safety. He is also an instructor of Maintaining Childs Play, Playground Maintenance Technician Course offered by the Indiana University's Eppley Institute.
Kenneth received his Bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University. He is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). Some of his professional affiliations include: President of the National Recreation and Park Association (1995); Past Chair NRPA's National Playground Safety Institute; and current Chair of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Subcommittee for performance requirements for public playground equipment (ASTM F1487). He is an advisor to Playright Hong Kong, Landscape Industry Association of Singapore, Standards Singapore Committee on Revision to SS495 and SS457, Singapore's National Parks Board and its Center for Urban Greenery and Ecology, and the Playground Safety Association of Malaysia and ex-officio member of the Canadian Standards Association's CSA Z614 Playspace Standard.

National Recreation and Park Association (CPSI) Course Instructor
Chris Yuen is a passionate and experienced playspace consultant and playground safety inspector. He has been involved with the safety of children at play since 2004. He is a CPSI and RPII-Annual Inspector. In 2023, Chris is on becoming a Probationary CPSI Instructor of NRPA. Since 2012, he leaded the Playright's Play Environment team to initiate and complete a series of playground advocacy programmes in Hong Kong, included the pilot Inclusive Play Space at Tuen Mun Park as well as the latest one - Children's Playground in Cha Ko Ling Promenade. The publication of the Inclusive Play Space Guide supported by UNICEF HK is also an distinctive guidance for the field practitioners to develop the good practice in design children's inclusive playspace. He also have rich experience in different play environment consultancy includes participatory approach to play space design, playground planning research, inclusive play design review, play equipment safety assessment, installation compliance audit and inspection training.
